North Atlantic Treaty Organization/Warsaw Pact
Scene 3
Tyler remembers NATO and hears of the Warsaw Pact
Tyler remembered the North Atlantic Treaty Organization that was formed a year earlier. He remembered reading that its members agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party. After a few more years, in 1955, the Warsaw Pact was made with a more militarized base and was a mutual defense organization that put the Soviets in command of the armed forces of the member states. The pact was formed primarily to counter the threat from the NATO countries.
