Kinetic-Molecular Theory
Definition: A model that is used to explain observable behaviors in gases.
Properties:
-Gases are made up of particles with no defined volume but with a defined mass.
-Gas particles possess no potential energy, their total energy is equal to kinetic energies.
-Gas particles are in continuous, random motion.
-Collisions between particles result in no loss or gain of kinetic energy.
-The average kinetic energy is the same for all gases at a given temperature, regardless of the identity of the gas.
