Animal Farm by: George Orwell
I believe that the main theme of Animal Farm is selfishness and gullibility. This is because throughout the novel Napoleon slowly begins to get power and eventually the power gets to him and he begins to become selfish and does the things he does to benefit him and the other pigs. Of course the pigs don't notice very much which is where the gullibility come in. Napoleon changed so many things one being the commandment and even when he does this the pigs never suspect anything they just believe they remembered the commandments wrong. Another event in the story where gullibility comes into play is when Boxer get taken to the slaughter house. The animals were freaking out when the read the car that was taking him away and they were so confused as to why Napoleon would do that to him. In the end Squealer came to tell the animals that it was simply a misunderstanding and that the car was just recently bought by a veterinarian but he had not painted the car yet. Of course the animals believed this lie. The gullibility of these animals where the reason it was so easy for Napoleon to take over the farm.
The climax in this story, in my opinion, is the scene in the novel where Napoleon executes the animals that had "betrayed" him. This event made the animals fear Napoleon and they realized that if they did something to disobey him, they would be executed. This is how Napoleon was able to do the things he did without any questions from the other animals.
Napoleon: Static, once Napoleon becomes the leader of the farm the power begins to get to him and he becomes selfish and that never changes.
Squealer: Flat, he played basically as Napoleons speaker and was a main character in the novel but his background was not fully known.
Snowball: Flat, Snowball wasn't "physically" in the story after he was chased off the farm but he still played a important role in the novel.
Boxer: Static, Boxer was always a hard worker and he never stopped believing in Napoleon and he always believed he was right.
Old Major: Flat, he was only in the first chapter of the novel but he was the reason the animals revolted and his appearance in the story was important
