As a child she was told that black boys don't look good
And yet Zach, so black, proved that they could.

They fall and love and sure enough it's destined from the start
That black and white should not combine and thus keeps them apart.

Racism and prejudice can be seen all the time,
Like when Rosaleen and Zach were arrested for false crimes.

In the end Lily learned that it matters not one's skin
For what really matters is the person within.

All throughout the novel, bees served as Lily's guide.
She learned that life is a roller coaster that everyone must ride.
