Parts of The Respiratory System

The Nose- the air enters through the nasal passages and travels through the nasal cavity. It warms, moistens, and filters the air.

The Trachea (Windpipe)- Air heads down your windpipe, and separates into the two main stem bronchi.

The Bronchioles- Tiny tubes that transfer air from bronchi to the alveoli.

The Alveoli- 600 million alveoli fill up with air, making the lungs bigger. They also allow oxygen to pass into your blood.

The Capillaries- the mesh-like coverings of the small blood vessels that cover the alveoli.

The Bronchi- Air passage tubes that lead into your bronchioles.
