Treasures and belongings

Mummies were often buried with many of their belongings that might be needed in the afterlife. If the mummy belonged to a very rich person, such as the Pharaoh, he would be buried with objects made out of gold, for example jewellery. Other items such as shabtis were included. Shabtis are small statuettes in the form of a mummy and were placed on the side of the mummy. Also there were amulets to protect them from after death.
