What is Heart Disease?

Heart disease occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries blocking blood flow to the heart which can cause a heart attack or a stroke.

Causes

Stress, high blood pressure, smoking, drug abuse, and alcohol abuse can all be factors which lead to heart disease.

Treatments

Maintain a healthy diet, be physically active, sustain a healthy weight, learn to manage stress, and medications can be added to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
