Food, Customs, Traditions
One popular food in El Salvador is sopa de pata. It is a soup. Salvadoran women often pat each other on the right forearm or shoulder, rather than shake hands. Close friends may hug and kiss on the right cheek. Independence is celebrated on 15 September with parades. It is the only non-religious holiday, although many religious holidays have become unreligous. Many people spend Holy Week, the week before Easter, at the beach.
