Knights and Vassals

Knights

- A person selected by the monarchy to serve the country, usually for the military
- Studied the various subjects of warfare, including topics such as battle strategies
- Fought mainly on horseback
- ONLY the sons of lords could become knights
-bound to serve the Nobels
- In return for service, they were granted a piece of land
- Knights would hire peasants to take care if their fief of land
- When the land was accepted, the knight became a vassal

VERY few people were knights
