Atomic Bomb

During the early 1900's, many scientists were conducting experiments that led to the creation of atomic bombs. When Germany began advancing in the production of bombs, one of the world's top physicists, Leo Szilard began to worry. With the help of Albert Einstein, Szilard wrote a letter to President Roosevelt, warning him of the German's production of these "extremely powerful bombs". Roosevelt set up a committee to study the issue and a secret American program was formed called the Manhattan Project. This association produced, tested, and dropped atomic bombs, destroying much of Japan and later leading to "V-J day", the surrender of Japan
