Almost every nation in Europe had somebody come to Texas. The Irish came because famine was caused because a disease attacked their main food: potatoes. To escape it, they came to Texas. So in the 1850s, 1,403 Irish were in Texas. But in the 1860s, there was around 3,480 Irishmen in Texas. They settled around San Patricio and Refugio.
In the mid. 1800s settlers from France could speak German and therefor was often mistaken for a German. Many French came to Texas because they were farmers, tradesmen, pirates, and slaveholder. One town in Texas was called Castroville. It was praised for its French neatness, French furniture, and French beds.
