Martin Luther
On October 31, 1517, a priest named Martin Luther added his voice to the call to reform. He nailed a list of complaints about the church to the door of a church in Wittenberg in the German state of Saxony. His list is called the 95 Theses. Thanks to the newly invented printing press, copies of Luther's complaints spread to the neighboring German states.
