The Final Break
The Second Continental Congress met on July 1, 1776 in the Philadelphia State House. On July 2, 1776 colonies voted for independence and 12 colonies voted.
The decision was to blame King George for violating the "sacred rights of life and liberty ... Of a distant people [by] carrying them into slavery."
On July 4, delegates approved a final version of the Declaration of Independence.
Franklins quote was "We must all hang together. Or most assuredly we shall all hang separately.
