The 1920's was about making big easy money. People were always looking for ways to make money easily. In "The Great Gatsby" Jay Gatsby is a bootlegger. Bootlegging is illegal but it's easy and brings in big money. In the song "High School Never Ends" by Bowling For Soup they say "The whole damn world is just as obsessed with who‘s the best dressed... who‘s got the money... This claims that everyone just wants to be popular and have money. These are both examples of how people just want money and don't much care where it comes from.
