Hale-Bopp

.Alan Hale & Thomas Bopp discovered the comet
.It was discovered on July 23, 1995
.The orbit of Hale-Bopp brought it closest to Earth on 22 March 1997 at a distance of 1.3 AU and the furthest north in the sky on March 25. When it went round the Sun on 1 April 1997 at 0.9 AU it was moving at a speed of 44km/s with respect to the Sun. On June 26, 1997, Hale-Bopp will cross the equator moving back to the southern half of the celestial sphere.
