I asked the bee:
'Why would you work so very hard?
You get nothing in return.'
The Bee stared at me, thinking,
'It is not
what I get,
But what I have to show.
Creating a great hive.
This is my life.'
Studying his hive, I couldn't understand.
His life's work would show nothing,
At least nothing individualized to him.
'Why would you work for these beings?
They only want you to work,
They do not appreciate you.'

'Perhaps, but, I rather spend life working,
doing what I am comfortable with,
Than face the unknown.
For out there, is no one.
This life is safe and boring,
Yes.
But it is all I know.'
I could accept his reasoning,
Fear of the unknown is common.
'Well, if you are fine with this,
Enjoy your mundane life.
But, if it were me,
I would break away.
Make a new path,
Not follow others'.'
Absorbing this, he said,
'Thank you,
Maybe I will be the first.'

He flew away,
Never to be seen again.
The first to explore the unknown.
