The meeting aftermath

- He met Adolph Hitler in March, 1935. Hitler was on an inspection tour and the SS tried to put a row of their stormtroopers in front of his men during a parade. Rommel loudly protested that his men were being insulted. He won this argument and his boldness won him the admiration of Hitler. In 1938, when Hitler took over the Sudeten provinces of Czechoslovakia, Rommel was in charge of the field headquarters. On March 15, 1939 when Hitler rode into Prague, Rommel was in command of the escort. As a reward for his success in protecting the Fürher, Rommel was given the 7 Panzer Division on February 15, 1940. By June 19, Rommel had captured 100,000 prisoners, 300+ guns (artillery pieces), 450 tanks and armored cars and over 7,000 transport vehicles with a loss of 42 tanks and 3,000 dead,wounded or missing troops.
