Trench Warfare: Seeking Shelter in the Soil
-Soldiers dug out trenches in the ground so they could hide and protect themselves from artillery and small arms fire
-Depending on what type of ground it was, the trenches could go very deep or be little more than 18 inches
-Sometimes, they even included latrines, which acted as a sanitary issue, among others.
- They were elaborate, designed to protect and shield soldiers from the enemy. They were guarded with barbed wire and had many connections within it.
