How does it work?
The Champion (Project Sponsor) arranges a meeting with the appointed Project
Leader;
They fill out the project charter together;
Missing information are gathered by the Project Leader and added to the project
charter;
The completed project charter is a requirement for the Project Kick-off
Workshop;
During this workshop the project charter is presented to the project team and if
required, necessary adjustments are made.

When to use it?
The project charter is created during the Define phase;
The project charter contains all relevant information for the start of the project;
The project charter is developed in cooperation between the Champion (Project
Sponsor) and the Project Leader and presented to the team during the project
kick-off;
Adjustments to the project charter are possible only with the approval of the
Champion (Project Sponsor).

What to keep in mind?
The project charter has to be developed in cooperation with the Champion
(Project Sponsor)
Often it is signed by the Project Leader and the Champion additionally

visibly on a notice board in the company
