The Colorado River faces three main sources of pollution. The first pollutant is human waste, which comes from the ground seepage of septic tanks. The second type is an ingredient commonly found in rocket fuel called perchlorate, which can be found in the soil of Lake Mead. Lastly there is radioactive waste polluting the river. This comes from the former Atlas Minerals Corporation that is used to produce and store radioactive material.
