SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Signs and symptoms of Crohn's disease can range from mild to severe and may develop gradually or come on suddenly or no signs or symptoms which is referred to remission.
Signs and symptoms can range from:
▪️Diarrhea.. Which is the most common problem for people with Crohn's
▪️Abdominal cramping and pain
▪️Blood in the stool
▪️Ulcers
▪️Reduced appetite and weight loss
DIAGNOSIS
There are many ways a physician can diagnose Crohn' s disease such as:
▪️Blood tests, with this test they are checking for anemia
▪️Fecal occult blood test, which the physician checks for blood in stool
▪️Colonoscopy, this a view of the colon using a thin lighted flexible tube with a camera attached
▪️Computerized tomography, this test looks at the entire bowel as well as the tissues outside the bowel that can't be seen with other tests, this test replaced barium X-Rays in many medical centers.
▪️MRI, scanner uses magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of organs and tissues.
▪️Capsule endoscopy, swallow capsule with camera on it
▪️Double ballon endoscopy, this useful when capsule endoscopy shows abnormalities, but the diagnosis is still in question
▪️Small bowel imaging, this test looks at the bowel that can't be seen
▪️Barium enema
