Symptoms:
- soft tumors on the skin

- neurological deficits

Occurrence- 1 in 5000
Ethnicity or Religion?
- Occurs in both sexes and in all races and ethnic groups.
- This disorder would be rated as somewhat rare.
Life expectancy- One with Neurofibromatosis can live an almost normal life, if the disorder is taken care of.
Treatment:
Surgery- one can get all soft tumors surgically removed, but must consider the risks and benefits of the procedure
Chemotherapy- May control or reduce the size of optic nerve gliomas when vision is threatened.
Medication- certain meds can be used to relieve symptoms such as headaches or seizures
