Delphine, Vonetta and Fern set off on a plane to meet there mother who abandoned them as young children. Their mother, Cecile acts poorly around them wishing for her peace and quiet to last. Cecile went over her rule of NO GOING INTO THE KITCHEN! The three girls were sent to walk a few blocks just to get their dinner. For breakfast the children walked down to a center to get free breakfast surrounded by black panthers. Fern carried around her doll, Miss Patty Cake as they went to join the center's summer camp.at the summer camp they learned to fight for their rights. One of the girls total twenty-eight days they stayed with there mom they decided to go get a veiw of the Golden Gate Bridge, china town and even ride a street car. They had a blast spending time at china town and looking at the Golden Gate Bridge through a telescope. When they got back to the green stucco house there were three police cars in there driveway arresting Cecile and two black panthers.franticly the girls rammed into the house and saw what a mess was left behind after the police got to.They cleaned up what they could with mixed emotions still looking forward to the rally at the center. Vonetta found a poem her mother wrote called "I Birthed A Nation." Preparing for the rally before the show was nerve wrecking and they were surrounded with about one thousand people patiently waiting for our performance.Once they performed the crowd went wild ,wanting more. The next day they left for the airport back home to Brooklyn, sad that they never got one hug from there mom since there visit. At the airport all three girls quickly at the last minute run up to Cecile and give her a huge hug before boarding.
