Who was the inventor?
The inventor of the external pacemaker was John Hopps .John Hopps was trained as an electrical engineer at the the university of Manitoka and joined the National Research Council in 1941. John Hopps invented the pacemaker in the 1950's but the pacemaker he invented was an external pacemaker.
The first person to make the internal pacemaker was Rune Elmqvist with his team at Karolinska University. The first internal pacemaker was implanted in a human body in 1958 and the person who had this pacemaker was Mr. Arne Larson.
