Attacks Against African Americans

During the Jim Crow era, African Americans were no longer considered slaves, however they were still treated as though there were less than equal. Sharecropping allowed African Americans to work for white plantation owners and would share 50% of the earnings with the workers. However, the economy was extremely rigged and kept African Americans deep in debt.
