becuase the soldiers were hunters and horse riders at a young age gave them an advantage becuase they were already good at riding and shooting at the same time

also the planning that went into the thought of the battle gave them an advantage

They would use many different strategies such as ambushes and wave attacks.

They had fast communication becuase of the riders who would ride to and from the battlefield to give information

if they were at a castle they would use catapults to throw rocks, dead animals and flaming naptha bombs at the walls

The mongol army would also reroute streams to flood the town they were attacking.

They would also make extra campfires and build hay people and put them on the back of a horse to make the army seem bigger than it was
