How is Osteomalacia diagnosed ?

Blood test to check for low levels of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus in your blood can help diagnose osteomalacia and other bone disorders.

X-rays and other imaging test can reveal cracks in the bones throughout your body. These cracks are where fractures begin with even small injuries.

A bone biopsy may be required to diagnose osteomalacia.
- a needle is inserted through your skin and muscle and into the bone to obtain a small sample.

Usually blood test and X-rays are enough to make a diagnosis and a bone biopsy is not needed.
