Evolution as Genetic Change
Directional Selection- form of natural selection, individual at one end of a distribution curve have higher fitness than one in the middle or at the other end of the curve
Stabilizing Selection-a form of natural selection in which individuals near the center of a distribution curve have higher fitness than individuals at either end
Disruptive Selection- form of natural selection in which individuals at the upper & lower ends of distribution curve have higher fitness than ones near middle of curve
Genetic Drift- a random change in allele frequency caused by a series of chance occurrences that cause an allele more or less common
Bottleneck Effect- a change in allele frequency following a dramatic reduction
Founder Effect- a change in allele frequency as a result of migration of a small group of population
