Radar method

Parallax Method

?How do astronomers measure distances in space?

This is the method to determine distance in space by using how fast light travels. Astronomers know that light travels at 300,000 kilometers per second. They use this to learn how far an object is away from them in space.

This method is used when the unknown object is within 100 light years away. This way to determine distance is how an object appears to have changed position depending on the angle you are looking at it from.
