Generally, the immune system plays a part in every single illness your body comes across. Some things that specifically affect the immune system include autoimmune disorders and diseases, where the body stops being able to differ between infected and healthy cells and destroys healthy cells. This can be inherited or acquired through environmental circumstances of all sorts. A virus that specifically affects the immune system is the infamous HIV, which targets helper T-cells in the body. These cells tell other cells in this system to attack, so HIV is destroying what tells the body it is infected. Therefore, nobody dies of HIV/AIDS. They did from being infected from outside pathogens due to a compromised immune system.
