1. Generally smaller and simpler
2. DNA is not held inside a nucleus
3. DNA floats freely in the cell
4. Prokaryotes do all the activities that living things must so to be called "alive"
5. They grow, reproduce, respond to their environment, and in some cases glide along surfaces to swum through liquids
6. Living thing we call bacteria are prokaryotes
