Decomposition is related to the nitrogen cycle because it is in the nitrogen cycle. When an animal eats a plant it gets nitrogen that was in the plant and the nitrogen comes out through either waste or when the animal dies and decomposes. The same thing happens to a plant, it gets the nitrogen from the soil and when the plant dies it decomposes and the nitrogen is released into the atmosphere. Nitrogen is important to living things because it's in almost all the food we eat, and it is a part of our DNA.
