During President Lincoln's speech, he pointed out that in the Declaration of Independence, it states, all men are created equal.


Lincoln used the Declaration of Independence as an example instead of the Constitution, because it shows what our founding fathers truly intended for their new country. While our forefathers were making the Declaration of Independence, they included things the Constitution does not.
