Sanatana Dharma is a "term used to denote the 'eternal' or absolute set of duties or religiously ordained practices incumbent upon all Hindus, regardless of class, caste, or sect."
The virtues of Sanatana Dharma include honesty, refraining from injuring living beings, purity, goodwill, mercy, patience, forbearance, self-restraint, generosity, and asceticism (the practice of denial of physical or psychological desires).

We can draw parallels between this and the gospel. It is expected of all of us, no matter who we are, what position we hold, what language we speak, etc. to be Christ-like and live righteously.
It is a code of ethics, a way of living so that one may achieve moksha (enlightenment, liberation)
