Cause and effect in "Come again in the spring"

One way cause and effect is shown in "come again in the spring" the old man feeds the birds therefor the birds give him the answer to keep him alive and to answer deaths questions. Another way cause and effect is shown is when the old man answers the questions death lets him live another day until eventually he answers a final question to live until the spring. A third way cause and effect is shown is when the old man answers the questions death gets vey angry and almost pushes the man off a latter or hits him with an ax
