First, A Review.
Remember when we were studying complex and compound sentences. In the compound sentence, there are two complete sentences together connected by a coordinating conjunction. Those are for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so. Also, these complete sentences are independent clauses. In a complex sentence, there is an independent clause and dependent clause combined together with a subordinate conjunction. The dependent clause must have a complete sentence in it but have a word in front of it making it incomplete. Those include after, although, as, because, before, even though, if, since, though, unless, until, when, whenever, whereas, wherever, and while. There is also another conjunction which connects two independent clauses: THE CONJUNCTIVE ADVERB!
