Why was India’s population able to grow throughout the postclassical era?

C

Monsoon season in the Indian River Basin provided the necessary water to irrigate the crops throughout the year.

In the north, irrigation systems have long been used from the Ganges and Indus River. As southern India become more densely populated, energy and effort was put into constructing dams, reservoirs, canals, wells, and tunnels to facilitate agricultural production for the arid and dry climate.

India’s population was able to grow throughout the postclassical era as a result of increased productivity.
