Problem #1

The SWANA region has had wealth and poverty. There is an extremely uneven distribution of resources in this region. Some countries enjoy a large amount of resources and prosperity, meanwhile other nations are some of the least developed in the world. The oil rich countries have prospered since the 1970's. Due to the uneven distribution, 7% of the world's population has control of 61% of all known oil resources. The countries without large amounts of resources have found ways to expand their economy however. For example, Israel has invested into a productive agriculture and industrial base. Turkey also has a diversified economy without petroleum. These countries have shown that they don't need oil based resources to be successful.
