Glaciers are rivers of ice.

Glaciers form when snow stays in the same place for several years. This snow turns into layers over hundreds or thousands of years. Soon the weight of the upper layer of snow pushes the lower layers into tiny pellets called fern. The frozen mass becomes more dense. With enough weight the ice begins to move and it becomes a glacier.
