Authors Perspective

The authors perspective on WWII is that it was bad. He tells this message through the narrater (death) by saying that the term "war is deaths best friend" is wrong because death doesn't like to work and with war many people die. Also the authors mother witnessed human cruelty and that might of also shaped his perspective.
