Origin
Mercury got its name after a Roman God. The Roman God Mercury was fast and swift and it is an appropriate name for this planet because Mercury seems it is moving quicker from night to night.
Mercury was formed 5 billion years ago, when a nebula consisting of dust and gasses collapsing, forming the sun and surrounding it with cosmic materials.

Galileo Galilei discovered mercury with a telescope in the 1600s. He was born in 1564 and died in 1642
