The Great Depression
- The stock market crashed in October of 1929, better know as the start of the Great Deppression.
- During the Great Depression, the percentage of unemployment reached its highest!
- In 1932, the government did a study saying that the south was the nations number one economic problem.
-The Great Depression stopped all economic growth and brought more poverty.
- Living in a rural area during this time would have helped you greatly.
- If you lived in a rural area, you could plant a garden to feed your family.
- Others that lived in towns and cities had harder time trying to get food.
- Rural familys would take in friends and family that lived in the cities and towns to try to stop them from starving.
- The depression lasted for 10 years!
- Most of Huey Longs power came from people struggling.
