Early Activities and Departure

-Escaped to Munich as an exile as a wanted man for his illegal activities
-From exile he acted as an SS courier by sneaking radios and weapons into Austria
-Arrested in October 1933, but released for lack of evidence. Then detained in 1934 after SS assassination of the Austrain chancellor
-Fled to Dachau after escaping custody, and temporarily quit Nazi/SS activities until 1937
