-Who: Otfried Hans, Théodore Gentilz, Freiherr Von Meusebach, Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels, and Auguste Frétellière

-Where: They settled in Houston and San Antonio, and established New Braunfels, Boerne, and Comfort.
-When: early 1830's through the 1850's.

-Why: Large amounts of cheap land and freedoms that did not exist in Germany

-The Germans brought their traditions, along with the complete work of Goethe (a German Poet), and lots of sheet music. The German culture is reflected in architecture, churches, and food in many Hill Country towns.
