On April 1960 John f Kennedy authorized an invasion to overthrow Castro and his supporters. Him and and force of 1500 anti-Castro men, transported by the CIA landed on the bay of Pigs. Although airstrikes from Central America continued to be effective and killed many Cuban troops on their way to the fray, the invaders were pushed steadily back. On April 19, the intruders surrendered.
