The Bacteria Used in Their Experiment

Clostridium novyi is a soil bacterium. It is anaerobic in character which makes it a candidate of cancer therapy as most of the tumor cells are oxygen-starved.
It is pathogenic so the researchers eliminated its toxin producing genes.
