Black holes do not orbit other objects like our planets orbit our sun. Other celestial bodies like stars orbit the black hole.

They either have a very fast spin, or no spin at all, reaching from half the speed of light to almost the speed of light. This acceleration causes it's ergosphere to emit x-rays.

Laplace had theorized the black hole and initially thought they were super massive stars in which no light could escape because of their gravitational pull
