Harriet's First husband was named John. They didn't know much about him, but they did know he was a freed slave. John and Harriet separated when he refused to help Harriet to freedom, in fear he might get in trouble.
Harriet's second husband was more understanding. Nelson Davis was freed by Harriet. A few years later they adopted a little girl named Gerti.
