🔹kidney failure 🔹cataract
🔹brain damage (developmental delays)

🔹1 in every 30,000 to 60,000 newborns
🔹It is a rare disease
🔹Caucasian (white) Europeans and North Americans

Prognosis:

🔹People with this disorder who are treated correctly can live a semi-normal life
🔹75% of untreated newborns die within their first two weeks of life

Treatment:

🔹Must follow a strict galactose-free diet. This includes all dairy products, processed meats, organ meats, soy sauce, ect.
