Cause, Characteristics, & Significance

Cause: Created because the Founding Fathers wanted to guarantee that we would have basic and civil rights that would not be threatened by the government.

Characteristics: Allows people to say whatever they want without the government being able to interfere.

Significance: The first amendment is important because without it we wouldn't be able to express our own opinions.
